For the best result, you also need to turn OFF the Safety MF feature in the menu or you still get some AF hunting ("fine-tuning" the manual focus) when you press the shutter. Works great for street shooting or other situations where you want instant shutter response and sharp focus from about 5' to infinity (wide only, no zoom). Using MF reduces shutter lag to almost zero and maximizes focal range at the wide end of the zoom.
